Before the day of words, the poets sleep.<\/p>\n
They spent the whole day working their keep.<\/p>\n
But now they lay down with the sun,<\/p>\n
remembering all that had begun;<\/p>\n
since before they were born and after they will die.<\/p>\n
There is nothing they won’t stop to try.<\/p>\n
They gather their dreams all in a small pool,<\/p>\n
hoping to find some poetic tool.<\/p>\n
They take their time in finding their words,<\/p>\n
for they all just want to be heard.<\/p>\n
Some don’t rhyme, and that’s okay,<\/p>\n
because they will still have a place to stay<\/p>\n
if they put their heart and soul<\/p>\n
into their work that they control.<\/p>\n
So this night is solemn, quiet, and silent<\/p>\n
even if the poet’s nightmares turn violent.<\/p>\n
There’s a bag by every bed<\/p>\n
containing papers and pens,<\/p>\n
so in case they have an epiphany while they rest<\/p>\n
they don’t even have to get dressed.<\/p>\n
Sometimes the words come faster to other poets,<\/p>\n
but it’s about their memories, not their talent, and they know it.<\/p>\n
All poets are created equal, yes, but they do not like to think so<\/p>\n
because each and every one of them likes to have their own show.<\/p>\n
Some are more lyrical while others are epic,<\/p>\n
some are calm and relaxing while others are hectic.<\/p>\n
But no matter what they mean,\u00a0poetry is poetry to me,<\/p>\n
a place to express oneself and be free.<\/p>\n
So as the night sinks to an end and the day of words begins,<\/p>\n
just sit back and watch to see who– or what– tries to purge their sins<\/p>\n
through the breathtaking art on paper, the true to life honesty<\/p>\n
that is poetry.<\/p>\n
