WHO IS GIRLWRITER?
(aka Nina Navazio)

I am an English Secondary Education major. I have a passion for not only English and teaching but also for different aspects of technology. I maintain this website and I design logos and posters for my friends and family.

My Work Experience
Teacher's Assistant - Summer Program

35 Hrs / Week in the Summer (July 2017, July 2018 / Current)

I am a teacher’s assistant at a summer camp for students interested in STEM. I keep track of about 20 girls (5th grade last year, 8th grade this year), making sure they are safe on the college’s campus and I also help them with their assignments.

House Manager - Library Auditorium

Winter 2017 – Current

In the library auditorium at my college, I make sure that events run smoothly. I work with the presenters (from the improv club to acapella groups) to make sure everything is running smoothly, from the audio to the lights. When something goes wrong, they ask for my help and I can either solve the problem or call someone who knows how to. I work this during the academic year.

Merchandising - Farmer's Market

7 Hrs/Week in the Summer & Fall (2015, 2016, 2017)

At this local farmer’s market I work with an organic food stand. I sort the produce while also helping customers find what they need.

My Awards
Principal's Award for Perfect Attendance

I was present or given an “excused absence” for a field trip for every single day of my high school career (I was never absent).

National Honors Society

I was a part of my school’s National Honors Society from May of my junior year through my senior year. I maintained a 3.8 GPA or above on a 5.0 scale.

Poetic Honorable Mention
I was awarded with Honorable Mention from a national writing competition called Odyssey Con for a fictional piece I wrote called “Everything” that can be read here.
My Extra Curriculars
Radio: Assistant Music Director

Since Fall 2017 (title held since April 2018)

I join the radio station on my campus my first semester and I am now Assistant Music Director. I manage the Music Staff (who review sent-in music for the station) as well as other clerical yet pivotal duties for the station (such as mail retrieval).

Youth Delegate

August 2017, February 2018

I attended the United Nation’s Youth Assembly which is a summit of international youth leaders who gather at the UN in New York City to hear different presentations on a wide range of topics. All the topics relate to the session’s topic which changes every session. This summit can be attended by application only and I attended both times as a Youth Delegate (a participant as opposed to an Observer).

Mock Trial

Grade 9, 10, 11 (President), 12 (President)
Since Fall 2017

This was my high school’s Mock Trial team. We competed in a competition against other teams in our county. My senior year we reached county finals for the first time in over eight years.

I am also part of my college’s Mock Trial team, registered with the American Mock Trial Association.
